“We give our all in every game”

Oliver Glasner on identifying the reasons behind Eintracht’s inconsistent form, possible solutions, lessons from the past and the game against Leipzig.

Oliver Glasner on…

...personnel: “Goncalo Paciencia is expected to be out until the international break. We’re going to give Sebastian Rode a rest for fitness reasons. We’ll have to wait and see with Kristijan Jakic. Aymen Barkok is back and Christopher Lenz remains out.”

…preparations for the Leipzig game: “We didn’t just focus on the game against Bochum yesterday but on the entire week, and we managed to have a really thorough training session. Today we started preparing in earnest for the game against Leipzig. We’re in good spirits.”

…conclusions from their analysis: “The huge fluctuations in performance are surprising for all of us. I’m 100% certain that we give our all in every game. The lads want too much sometimes and put too much pressure on themselves. We’ve got to get to the bottom of that.”

I’m 100% certain that we give our all in every game.

Head coach Oliver Glasner

…comparisons with the past: “I’ve spoken to players who’ve been here a while. They told me: ‘Boss, it was the same two years ago. When we were in the Europa League we always struggled in our subsequent games.’ It has also become clear that we find things a little easier against supposedly stronger teams.”

…possible solutions: “It’s not just me and the fans, but the players are tearing their hair out too. It bothers them because – and I’d bet my life on this – they give everything for Eintracht but don’t always succeed. That makes them stew over things. I’m not blaming them, far from it. We’ve found ways of supporting them in order to achieve more consistency together.”

…opponents Leipzig: “Leipzig want to play in the Champions League. We’re looking forward to facing this opponent – for our fans as well. André Silva is coming back. The lads have been very motivated this week. We want to give Leipzig a fight.”
