First things first, Carlos: How are you getting on?
“I’m doing well! I’m pleased to be back with the team. I think I can benefit from returning in a good period in which the team is picking up a lot of points.”
Do you think you’ll be involved in Eintracht’s next game against Augsburg?
“I deliberately pulled out of international duty in order to work my way back into the team as quickly as possible. I’m definitely in the right physical condition to play. I want to work hard on my form and fitness between now and the game, so I can see myself playing against Augsburg. I told the Mexican federation that I don’t want to be considered for international duty and that I want to work on my form in Frankfurt. I also spoke with Adi Hütter. All parties agreed it was a sensible decision to miss the international games.”
How much are you looking forward to the knockout stages of the UEFA Europa League?
“I’m really pleased for the team that they managed to reach the next round, but the decision whether or not to include me in the squad next year is out of my hands. I don’t know what the future holds, but I’m not worrying about it - I’m just happy to return and to be able to help the team.”
What are Eintracht capable of achieving this season?
“When I joined Frankfurt they had done very well in the first half of the previous season, and last year was the same. I think it’s too early to start dreaming at this stage. Since coming to Europe I’ve realised that the second half of a season is usually more difficult. The team are doing a great job at the moment but we’ve got countless games between now and the end of the season, so a lot can happen.”
