Borré and Hrustic net winners

With no international fixtures involving Eintracht players on Wednesday, we take a look at how the Eagles stars have fared for their countries in recent days.

Rafael Santos Borré not only played the whole 90 minutes but scored the winning goal as Colombia defeated Saudi Arabia 1-0 in a friendly on Sunday evening.

There was no such joy for Djibril Sow and Switzerland, who remain without a win in the UEFA Nations League after losing 4-0 to Portugal. Sow started for the Nati before being withdrawn on 81 minutes.

Filip Kostic was rested as Serbia cruised to a 4-1 Nations League victory over Slovenia, while Jens Petter Hauge was an 89th-minute substitute in Norway’s 2-1 win over Sweden.

Hrustic fires Socceroos into play-off final

Croatia and France played out a 1-1 draw, with Eagles midfielder Kristijan Jakic an unused substitute for the hosts.

Ansgar Knauff was also left on the bench for Germany U21s’ 2-1 win against Poland, but Faride Alidou lasted 82 minutes after being named in the starting line-up.

Ajdin Hrustic, meanwhile, played a key role in Australia’s World Cup play-off semi-final triumph over the UAE. Hrustic, who was included in the starting XI, scored in the 84th minute to earn the Socceroos a 2-1 win and set up a play-off final with Peru for a place at the finals in Qatar.

In Munich, historic rivals Germany and England played out an entertaining 1-1 draw. Eintracht goalkeeper Kevin Trapp was an unused substitute at the Allianz Arena.
