Hrgota scores four in 9-1 win over Haibach

Eintracht Frankfurt won 9-1 in Friday’s friendly at Alemannia Haibach, with four of the goals coming from Branimir Hrgota as well as two from Daichi Kamada.

As expected, coach Niko Kovac’s side dominated against the sixth-tier side from Bavaria. The Haibach stadium was sold out for the first time as 3,000 fans watched the friendly encounter, presented by Energieversorgung Main-Spessart.

Despite 11 of his players being away on international duty, Kovac named a strong starting line-up that didn’t contain any youth players. Jetro Willems, Jonathan de Guzman and Marius Wolf, who all started at Mainz last Saturday, were included along with Danny Blum, Sebastien Haller, Marco Russ and back-up goalkeeper Jan Zimmermann. Marc Stendera, Hrgota and Kamada also got valuable playing time.

Kamada opened the scoring after just six minutes with a cute chip, before further goals from Stendera, Hrgota, Kamada and Haller, plus one in reply from the hosts, gave the Eagles a commanding 5-1 half-time lead.

Kovac freshened things up for the second period, with 20 players used in total, including Noah Schmitt, Mischa Häuser, Alessandro Albanese and Lukas Rodwald from the U19 side as well Timothy Chandler, Danny da Costa and the returning Alex Meier from the senior squad. Leon Bätge replaced Zimmermann in goal. In terms of the scoring, Blum made it 6-1 before Hrgota scored a perfect hat-trick in the space of five minutes to complete a successful day for himself and the team, save for Simon Falette picking up a late knock.

SGE: Zimmermann (Bätge 46’) - Wolf (da Costa 46’), Russ, Knothe (Falette 46/Schmitt 63’), Willems (Chandler 61’) - de Guzman (Häuser 46’), Stendera - Hrgota, Kamada (Rodwald 67’), Blum (Albanese 61’) - Haller (Meier 67’).
