Season summary: Eintracht to the max

Eintracht had another season of extremes, in which they played 49 competitive games and ended with a 2-0 defeat by Leipzig in the DFB Cup final in Berlin.

Goal of the season: Europe here we come (again!)

A 91st-minute goal from Éric Junior Dina Ebimbe on Matchday 34 secured a 2-1 win over SC Freiburg and seventh place in the Bundesliga, earning a spot in the UEFA Europa Conference League qualifying rounds.

Game of the season: ecstasy in Lisbon

After earning four points from their first four UEFA Champions League outings following a 3-0 defeat against Sporting Clube de Portugal, a 1-0 win over Olympique de Marseille as well a goalless draw and a 3-2 loss against Tottenham Hotspur, the Eagles needed to win their last two group games in order to reach the knockout rounds – and they did just that!

A 2-1 triumph over Marseille at Deutsche Bank Park was followed by a sensational 2-1 win away to Sporting Lisbon on 1 November 2022 thanks to goals from Daichi Kamada und Randal Kolo Muani.

Newcomer of the season: Randal Kolo Muani

After joining on a free transfer from Nantes, Kolo Muani enjoyed an unbelievable season, registering 23 goals and 14 assists in all competitions, of which 16 and 11 respectively came in the Bundesliga. His displays caught the eye both domestically and internationally, earning him a maiden call-up to the senior France national team.

Furthermore, his six goals in the DFB Cup equalled a single-season club record set by Cha Bum-kun in 1980/81.
