Happy Birthday, Eintracht!

On the 8th of March back in 1899 not only the first Siemens share ever was listed at the stock exchange but also 15 men met at a pub in Hohenzollernstrasse 14 in Frankfurt.

Their aim was to found their own football club called “Victoria” and they decided to play in “red blouses, white belts and black trousers”. The name “Victoria” was dropped later on after various mergers, as was the style of clothing but the colours have remained the same ever since.

The very first game was a 4-1 win against FC Bockenheim 1899 on the 19th of March, 11 days after the meeting. The team made use of changing goalkeepers as well as ‘Backs’, ‘Halves’ and ‘Forwards’ as they were also called in the German match report back then.

Congratulations, dear Eintracht - thank you for 113 years full of emotions!
