“We’ve improved technically”

Adi Hütter and his players were pleased with Eintracht’s 2-2 draw in Freiburg, which rounded off a satisfying first half of the season for the improving Eagles.

Head coach Adi Hütter: “It was a good, intense Bundesliga match between two sides who showed that they both wanted to win. We maybe missed the chance to score a second goal, particularly in the early stages. After that, Freiburg used their power and momentum to turn the game around. We scored to make it 2-2, so I’m still satisfied. I think it was a very positive first half of the season. We have 27 points – just as many as we had at this stage during my first season here. We’ve also improved technically.”

It was great that we managed to fight back after falling behind and wanted to make it 3-2.

Kevin Trapp: “The important thing is we didn’t lose, because Freiburg are also near the top of the league. We had a lot of chances in the first half. It was a great game to watch. Both teams tried to win at the end – we maybe tried a little bit harder. That says a lot about us and shows our self-belief. To end the first half of the season on 27 points – like we did two years ago – is very good. We definitely could have got one or two more points on the board.”

Amin Younes: “Freiburg are a great team who are in form. Clearly there are going to be periods when you’re under pressure. It’s a shame, because we were the better team after going 1-0 up and had chances to make it 2-0. If we had picked the right passes, we’d have doubled our lead. It was great that we managed to fight back after falling behind and wanted to make it 3-2. I’m glad that Luka is back with us. He’s a superb footballer.”
