Head coach Dino Toppmöller: “We had a good start to the game and did what we set out to do. We had a good power and deserved to take the lead. Gladbach were more positive at the start of the second half. We weren’t active enough and gave the ball away easily too much, but we were also solid defensively. The second goal was brilliantly worked with a great finish from Omar. Thanks to the fans for the great support.”
Ansgar Knauff: “We can be satisfied with our performance in large parts, we’re happy about the three points. We came through a difficult spell to keep a clean sheet and were dangerous on the counter. The whole back line defended very well and were always good in the challenges. Kaua did very well, so it’s recognition for everyone that we kept a clean sheet. The fans are very important and there’s a very good atmosphere in the team, too. We’re very pleased with the first four games. Now we’ll do our best to also start well in the Europa League.”

Rasmus Kristensen: “The second half wasn’t our best performance but to keep the clean sheet was obviously very, very important. We defended well on the whole, even though it was a bit too passive at times after the break. We know we have to survive those situations, then our quality going forward comes to the fore. You also have to recognise that Borussia Mönchengladbach have a great team with a lot of good players. We weren’t as good in our pressing, yet our performance was good enough for three points. We’re pleased about that.”
