Back in training

After an enthusiastic start to pre-season training, head coach Oliver Glasner shared some of his thoughts.

First things first: the new coaching staff, comprising Oliver Glasner and his assistants Michael Angerschmid and Ronald Brunmayr, spent an hour or so with the team, getting to know them and introducing them to their ideas. Then after some relaxed running and short sprint exercises, the Eagles got to work on some match scenario drills.

"It was nice to get back out onto the pitch,” said the new boss. “Over the past few days we’ve spent a lot of time getting to know one another, talking and stuck in the office. But we’re footballers and coaches and we obviously want to be on the pitch. The lads were great and we’ve got pre-season off to a good start," added a satisfied Glasner, despite the fact that the club’s internationals were not part of the group who met in the Stadtwald.

Giving youth a chance

Nevertheless, there were no fewer than 26 players involved, three of them goalkeepers. Eight of them were from the ranks of the youth teams, namely Luka Hyryläinen, Jan Schröder, Antonio Foti, Ignacio Ferri Julià, Muhammed Damar, Dario Gebuhr and goalkeepers Jannik Horz and Matteo Bignetti.
