Mario Götze extends Eintracht Frankfurt contract

The Germany international has penned a new deal through to 30 June 2026, adding an extra year to his previous contract.

One day before the 80th DFB Cup final in Berlin and his 31st birthday, Mario Götze has signed a long-term contract extension with Eintracht Frankfurt. In doing so, the 2014 World Cup winner has signalled his commitment to the Eagles and to remaining in the heart of Europe.

At the start of the current season Götze moved from PSV Eindhoven to Eintracht, where he swiftly became a key player and first-team regular. The hard-running attacker contributed three goals and nine assists in 45 competitive games in his first campaign with the Eagles, playing the full 90 minutes in the majority of matches.

On Saturday, the four-time DFB Cup winner and his team-mates face Leipzig as they go in search of what would be a fifth cup triumph in Eintracht’s history.

I’m still firmly convinced of Eintracht's huge potential. The club has a clear plan and I identify with the objectives.

“Mario's long-term commitment to Eintracht Frankfurt is important news - especially so before the DFB Cup final,” said sporting director Markus Krösche. “He’s perfectly suited to the club, both personally and in terms of his on-field abilities, and is increasingly becoming one of the defining characters at Eintracht. Last summer we knew that a great person and player was coming to Eintracht, and Mario has confirmed this every day with his work and his personality. He is a cornerstone of our team. His early contract extension gives us security in terms of our planning for a central position. Furthermore, it underlines our ambition to retain experienced players and characters who identify with the club, alongside young players with potential to develop.”

Mario Götze: “I’ve felt very comfortable at Eintracht Frankfurt from day one. The club and the city now have a place in my heart. I see myself here in the future and want to provide clarity by signing this contract extension ahead of schedule. I’m still firmly convinced of Eintracht's huge potential. The club has a clear plan and I identify with the objectives. I’m looking forward to many more games for this club.”
