Gladbach preparations under way

Twenty-three outfield players and four goalkeepers took part in training on Wednesday, with Rasmus Kristensen and Jessic Ngankam continuing to work their way back to fitness.

There is no let-up for Eintracht as the summer comes to an end, with seven games in store for Dino Toppmöller’s side in the Bundesliga, UEFA Champions League and DFB Cup before the end of October. The Eagles kick off that busy period with a trip to Borussia Mönchengladbach on Saturday 27 September, with preparations already well under way on the training pitch. Autumn has arrived with a vengeance in the heart of Europe, with temperatures hovering around 13C on a drizzly Wednesday morning – but the Eintracht players were turning up the heat on the pitches outside Deutsche Bank Park.

Twenty-three outfield players, including Marvin Dills and Fousseny Doumbia, and four goalkeepers were involved, with Rasmus Kristensen and Jessic Ngankam continuing to work their way back to fitness following injury. Wednesday’s warm-up included short, competitive sprints as well as defensive drills featuring teams of two on a small-scale pitch, before the keepers joined the rest of their colleagues.

“Press, go, go, go!” were Toppmöller’s next instructions, which echoed over the training ground as his players continued to work up a sweat. The Eagles boss applauded his charges enthusiastically after each successful attacking move, setting the tone for an intensive end to the session.

The Eagles will be put through their paces again on Thursday before Friday’s final training session ahead of their departure to Mönchengladbach, where they are determined to make a winning start to their next run of games.
