“All about achieving something wonderful”

Adi Hütter on having a near-full squad to choose from, upcoming opponents Mainz and Eintracht’s approach for the run-in.

Adi Hütter on…

…Daichi Kamada and Filip Kostic’s recipe for success: “Filip really is an outstanding provider of assists who has returned to his absolute best. Daichi has improved enormously and scored regularly against big opponents. He also brings great creativity and understanding of the game. He and Filip Kostic have an incredible record, which benefits us all”

…personnel: “Everyone’s fit apart from Jabez Makanda, I have 23 players available. Amin Younes and Almamy Toure seem fit and healthy, but I’m not revealing whether it’ll be enough for them to play.”

…tactics: “We’re up against opponents who never let you rest and are always on the move. That’s why we shouldn’t sit back but rather try to dictate play ourselves. We want to end Mainz’s run and have analysed them extensively to do so.”

For us it’s all about winning the next three games to achieve something wonderful.

Head coach Adi Hütter

…Mainz’s transformation since the teams’ last meeting: “Mainz are having a great second half to the season – they’ve only picked up one point fewer than us. They’re very strong in the tackle, quick in transition and cover a lot of ground. We’re preparing for a competitive local derby in which we’re determined to come out on top.”

…Eintracht’s approach for the final three games: “For us it’s all about winning the next three games to achieve something wonderful. We have an experienced team who can deal really well with our upcoming games. It’s important that we rediscover our core principles and believe in ourselves. It’s a shame that COVID is stopping fans from getting to the stadium in the current circumstances. It would be unbelievable here with our battle for the Champions League places”
