What would an Eintracht training camp be like without fans? Over 100 supporters accompanied the Eagles to Windischgarsten, where they shared a barbecue with the players on the final evening in Austria.
Players, the coaching staff, the Eintracht board member for sport and the sporting director all arrived in high spirits at the club house, where they were received with loud applause, shouts of “bravo” and chants by the 130 SGE members that had been invited along. Sebastian Rode grabbed the microphone straight away and, alongside some of his teammates, paid a debt owed from an earlier bet during a match in training.
When the 32-year-old started singing the first lines of the club anthem “Im Herzen von Europa” (In the Heart of Europe), everyone else soon loudly joined in – including head coach Dino Toppmöller.
Afterwards, the team mingled with the fans and sat down with them at the tables to chat, sign autographs and take seflies.
After approximately 90 minutes the players returned to the team hotel, leaving behind many smiling and satisfied faces.
