Head coach Dino Toppmöller: “I’m incredibly proud of the group. The last few days certainly haven’t been easy for the boys and everyone in the club. We saw what we can achieve as a unit. The win was never in doubt; we fully deserved to win. We focused on what we can do and what makes us strong. We’re relieved because we know what the place in the group stage means for the club and the fans – when you experience this atmosphere, it just gives you goosebumps. We’re glad we could take this step together.”
Ellyes Skhiri: “It wasn’t easy at the start. We did a lot, applied a lot of pressure, tried hard and played some nice stuff at times. Today you could detect where we’re heading in terms of our football. The goal came late – it was a great feeling, especially as it was also important for us. We worked hard for that lead. The result is deserved. I’m happy about getting through and my first goal, and I’m pleased for the fans.”
Jessic Ngankam: “I’m very, very happy. We’re through, I’m looking forward to the draw and then we’ll see who we get. I just felt relief at the goal. We put in a good performance, we stayed patient and got our reward. It’s always been my aim to play in Europe. When the coach brought me on, he told me to stick to the plan and score the winning goal.”
