New recruit Ali Akman profiled

Having spent the last few months settling in, Ali Akman is now looking forward to getting started on the pitch.

Despite only being 19 years old, Ali Akman already cuts a confident figure and is looking to take his career to the next level in Frankfurt. The young attacker made his way through the youth system at his home club Bursaspor and made the move up to the first-team squad in 2019. In his debut season, he made 20 appearances, scoring two goals and setting up another one.

2020/21 was an absolute breakout season for the striker who recorded 10 goals and three assists in 18 appearances. It came as no surprise, therefore, that the Turkish talent’s performances caught the eye of a number of top European clubs. “Eintracht Frankfurt have always been a reference point for me in the Bundesliga, ever since I was a child. When I started attracting interest from various clubs this year, it was the tradition of this particular club that appealed to me. My heart told me to sign here”, said Akman.

Optimism combined with realism

Akman himself says that he is most comfortable as a centre-forward but can also be used on either side of the main attacker. When asked about his style of play, he gave a succinct reply: “When someone passes me the ball, all I want to do is head for goal and put the ball in the back of the net.”

Eintracht is my new family, and that shows me that I chose the right move.

Akman’s move to Frankfurt is the first time that he will have been away from his home country, but the warm welcome that he has received from everyone in charge at the club has made this transition all the easier for him: "Obviously first and foremost, it’s tough to say goodbye to your family and friends. But how I’ve been accepted here has been absolutely incredible. Eintracht is my new family, and that shows me that I chose the right move.”

He sees himself as more of a realist than a dreamer. He knows that he is here to focus on his development, stake his claim in training, and win people over with his performances, commitment and ambition.
