“Freddy fully deserves a runout”

Head coach Adi Hütter looks ahead to Saturday’s game at 1. FC Köln.

Adi Hütter on…

…personnel: “Goncalo Paciencia isn’t as fit as we’d like him to be yet, so he won’t be in the squad in Cologne. We need to see whether he’ll be fit for next week. Apart from Gelson Fernandes, we’ve otherwise got a full squad to choose from.”

…the goalkeeping position: “We’re going to rotate the squad again. Frederik Rönnow will be in goal tomorrow as he’s earned it. When Kevin went down injured, Freddy was incredibly professional. We’ve discussed the decision with Kevin. There’s a great mutual trust between the two. As a coach, there’s nothing better than having two top goalkeepers like that in the team.”

…tactical quandaries: “When things weren’t going well towards the end of the first half of the campaign, I felt I needed to change something. Switching to a back four was the right thing to do, as the victory against Hoffenheim and the two wins against Leipzig showed. I’ve always maintained we need to remain flexible and versatile.”

…Eintracht’s position in the table: “If we want to put pressure on the teams above us, we need to win both our games. We want to keep alive our hopes of a seventh-place finish for as long as possible, although we also know we’re dependent on other results. To do that, we need to perform like we have in recent games.”
