Frankfurt battling the odds in Munich

Bayern München will take to the pitch on matchday 10 with the words of CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge following the midweek defeat at Bordeaux still ringing in their ears: \"I expect a response from the team - and I expect it against Frankfurt on Saturday.\"

Having gone down 2-1 in their Champions League encounter with the French side and had two players red-carded for good measure, Bayern will be looking to get back to winning ways as quickly as possible with three points against Eintracht.

Impressive home record

From a statistical viewpoint, the visitors are a favourite opponent for the record champions, who have lost just one of the teams' previous 27 Bundesliga meetings in Munich over the course of the past 33 years. Of the rest, Bayern have won 22 and drawn four.

Michael Skibbe has yet to get the better of Bayern as a coach. At Dortmund he managed three draws (1998-99), while his period in charge of Leverkusen (2006-08) produced five defeats in total.

Skibbe is however looking for his revitalised outfit to take "at least a point" away from the Allianz Arena this time around, in what will be Frankfurt's 1,400th game in the top flight .

Frankfurt looking to buck the trend

"This is a good time to be playing Bayern. They haven't really settled into their groove yet this season - they're vulnerable", the Eintracht coach says.

As to the home team's current injury woes however, he is of the view that, "The absences are of no significance. They've played poorly with Ribery, Robben and Olic in the side as well... as long as the likes of Gomez are sitting on the bench, Bayern aren't in such bad shape."

The same can be said of Frankfurt in terms of personnel at the moment. Top scorer Ioannis Amanatidis is out with a thigh strain, but Selim Teber and Pirmin Schwegler are both set for a return to the team.

Incidentally, the two teams meet again next week in the third round of the DFB Cup, this time in Frankfurt.
