Ante Rebic joins AC Milan on permanent deal

The Croatia international has made his loan move with the Rossoneri into a permanent one.

Ante Rebic recorded 25 goals and 12 assists in 100 competitive outings for Eintracht Frankfurt before joining AC Milan in September 2019 on an initial two-year loan. His two most important strikes for the Eagles were undoubtedly his brace in the 2018 DFB Cup final, while he also scored a hat-trick against SV Waldhof Mannheim in the first round in 2019.

The 26-year-old contributed 12 goals and four assists in 30 appearances in all competitions in his maiden campaign for the Italian side, who ended 2019/20 in sixth place in Serie A. Rebic scored all 11 of his league goals in the second half of the season, including five and two assists following the restart after the coronavirus-enforced hiatus. That run of form kick-started an upturn in fortunes for the Rossoneri, who remained unbeaten until the end of the season, winning nine of their 12 matches and securing UEFA Europa League qualification. Now Eintracht and AC Milan have reached an agreement to make the loan deal, which was valid until 2021, into a permanent move. Both clubs agreed not to disclose details of the transfer.

“Ante will live long in the memory of our fans, and not only for his outstanding performance in the final of the 2018 DFB Cup,” said Eintracht board member Fredi Bobic. “His displays over this past year have shown that he can establish himself at one of the biggest teams in the world and make the most of the huge amount of potential he has. We agreed to this transfer because we don’t want to stand in his way. We wish Ante all the best for the future. He’ll always be welcome in Frankfurt.”
