HISTORY
- Eintracht Frankfurt and FC Augsburg face off for the seventh time in the Bundesliga this weekend. SGE won the first encounter, but FCA have remained unbeaten in the five meetings since (W3, D2).
- Augsburg have won their last two away matches (3-1 in Gladbach and 1-0 in Munich). However, ahead of their recent upturn in fortunes, FCA had lost five away matches on the bounce.
- FCA, who went down to Hertha on matchday 1 of the 2015/16 campaign, have now lost each of their last four opening fixtures, scoring no goals and conceding a total of nine in the process. Good news for the Eagles: FC Augsburg don’t traditionally fare much better in their following match, having lost their last three games on MD2.
- FCA hit the woodwork three times against Hertha last time out, something they had never done before in the Bundesliga. They hit the frame of the goal seven times over the course of the whole of last season.
- Eintracht are unbeaten in 11 home matches (W7, D4) – the last time they went on a run like that was almost 15 years ago (15 home games without defeat in 2000). Their last loss on home turf came on matchday 11 of the 2014/15 season (4-0 against Bayern).
- SGE had the best chance-conversion rate in 2014/15 (17.5%, the same as FC Bayern). SGE’s clear-cut-chance-conversion rate in 2014/15 (53.7%) was the second best in the league after Leverkusen (54.1%).
- Only Werder (13) scored more goals from free kicks than Eintracht in 2014/15 (9, the same as Leverkusen). In comparison, 40% of the goals FCA conceded last term came from dead balls (17 of 43) – proportionally speaking, only Leverkusen let in more goals from set pieces (51%). The goal FCA conceded against Hertha on matchday 1 came from the penalty spot.
- Frankfurt caught players offside on 126 occasions last season – a league high. However, no team allowed as many clear-cut chances as Frankfurt last season (93).
INDIVIDUALS
- Raul Bobadilla was sent off for two bookable offences on matchday 1 against Hertha. That saw the striker become the ninth player to be sent off in consecutive Bundesliga appearances. No one has ever been red carded in three straight top-flight games.
- FCA striker Halil Altintop played 49 Bundesliga games for SGE (3 goals) between the start of 2010 and mid-2011. He has faced Frankfurt 13 times in the top flight and has lost against his former employers only once (W7, D5). He has scored just one goal against them.
- Armin Veh, who was born in Augsburg, is an FCA youth product. In 1990, they handed him his first managerial role. They played in the Bayern-Liga at the time.
