Faride Alidou to join Eintracht

Eintracht Frankfurt have agreed a deal to sign 20-year-old left winger Faride Alidou from Hamburger SV for next season on a contract through to 2026.

Eintracht have thereby secured the services of a wide forward who has featured predominantly on the left for Hamburg’s first team this term. Alidou played on the right wing for HSV’s U21s, who compete in the northern regional league, before being promoted to the first team.

Born to Togolese parents, Alidou grew up in Hamburg and joined HSV from district outfit Wilhelmsburg in 2012. The right-footed winger, who is a particularly strong dribbler, progressed through the HSV youth ranks to the U21s, for whom he registered a goal and an assist in seven appearances this season prior to the international break in October. Since then, the 1.86-metre wide man has appeared in 19 of the first team’s 20 outings across all competitions and recently helped them reach the semi-finals of the DFB Cup. In 16 Bundesliga 2 appearances this term, Alidou has scored two goals and assisted a further seven.

In Faride, we’re gaining a player who is proficient on both flanks as well as behind the striker. We’re convinced that he’ll make us even more versatile and unpredictable with his speed and dribbling.

He made his debut for Christian Wörns’ Germany U20 side in November, earning a penalty and putting Germany 2-1 ahead in an eventual 3-2 defeat to France. Having also represented the U15s and U19s, he was named in the U21 squad for the first time for their upcoming fixtures.

“We’re very happy that Faride Alidou, an up-and-coming German youth international, has made a conscious decision to take his next steps in professional football with Eintracht Frankfurt,” said board member for sport Markus Krösche. “In Faride, we’re gaining a player who is proficient on both flanks as well as behind the striker. We’re convinced that he’ll make us even more versatile and unpredictable with his speed and dribbling.

“Since his promotion to the first team, Faride has shown he can quickly find his feet in a higher league. Even so, he’ll be given the time he needs to acclimatise to the Bundesliga. The fact that he wants to achieve promotion with HSV in the second half of the season speaks volumes about his ambitious character.”
