Farewell to Tosun, Steinhöfer and Korkmaz

It was a busy day at Eintracht's headquarters. Three players will leave the team with immediate effect.

Chief Executive Heribert Bruchhagen and manager Michael Skibbe continue to reduce the number of players within the Eintracht squad and also the costs relating to the team.

  • Cenk Tosun (19) will leave the club and sign a contract with Gaziantepspor in Turkey. The current member of Germany's Under-21 team joined the Eagles in 1997 and passed all youth teams up until the Under-23. He received a contract with the first team last season but so far only featured in one Bundesliga game. He decided not to take on Eintracht's offer to extend the contract for further three years.

  • Markus Steinhöfer (24) will also terminate his contract with Eintracht and join last season's Swiss double winners FC Basel. Frankfurt had signed the former member of Germany's Under-21 from Red Bull Salzburg in 2008. He joined 1. FC Kaiserslautern on loan a year ago before returning to Eintracht ahead of the running campaign. In 41 league and cup games he scored 3 goals for the Eagles.

  • Vienna born Ümit Korkmaz will join 2. Bundesliga team VfL Bochum on loan until the end of the season. The 25 year old Austrian forward had signed a contract with Eintracht in 2008 just ahead of his impressive EURO 2008 performances. He featured in 37 Bundesliga games for the Eagles (3 goals).

Best wishes to all three players for their personal and sporting future!
