“All that counts is Eintracht Frankfurt”

Adi Hütter discusses the Eagles’ main objective, their ‘now-or-never’ mentality and their firm belief in ending the campaign with a maximum six points.

Adi Hütter on...

…the Eagles’ confidence in a top-four finish: “It’s not about me but about the big picture – all that counts is Eintracht Frankfurt. I think it’s great that the club will definitely play European football next season, but I would like the fans to hear the Champions League anthem too, perhaps even at the stadium. Maybe we can showcase a now-or-never mentality. We want to show everyone that the lads are doing everything they can to achieve this extraordinary goal. I’m more motivated than ever before – and I will be until the final day.”

…first impressions of the quarantine training camp: “We’re comfortable and making the most of the opportunity to grow even closer together. Everyone wants to play in the Champions League. That’s in the boys’ minds. It’s good that we’ll spend a lot of time together and talk a lot at the hotel in order to stoke the fire.”

...personnel: “Sebastian Rode had to come off early against Mainz. André Silva and Makoto Hasebe only took part in light training today, but I’m expecting them to be available.”

…Eintracht’s position going into Saturday’s game: “Our only task is to win at Schalke. That’s what we’re focusing on. If we play better than we did against Mainz, we’re convinced we’ll get the win. Our current goal is to reach the Champions League. To do that, we have to win twice. We firmly believe we can get six points.”

…their approach against Schalke: “It’s hard to predict Schalke’s line-up. It’s basically all about our own starting XI. Tactics won’t be decisive, but rather our ability to take control of the game from the first second. Every now and then Schalke show glimpses of being able to play good football. Even so, we have to be careful and take everything into account. I’m thinking about springing one or two surprises.”
