“It’s down to us”

Oliver Glasner is full of respect for DFB Cup opponents Stuttgarter Kickers but expects his side to live up to their favourites tag. There was also good news on the personnel front.

Oliver Glasner on…

...the Eagles’ objectives: “We’ve prepared thoroughly for this game and are making no distinction between the Champions League, Bundesliga and DFB Cup. The only thing that counts for us is to progress. We respect our opponents, but it’s down to us to make it plain from the outset that we want to remain in the DFB Cup over the winter. If we show the right levels of concentration and focus, we’ll come out on top.”

…opponents SV Stuttgarter Kickers: “Stuttgarter Kickers are top of the league, have won their last six games and haven’t lost a competitive game since April. This is their game of the year.”

…personnel: “Apart from Aurélio Buta and Makoto Hasebe, everyone’s available as it stands. We’ve come through these intensive last few weeks well in that regard. We’re going to play our strongest team. Onguéné and Toure are physically fit enough to return to the squad. Pellegrini was able to train again yesterday and if all goes well today, he’ll be included. Kevin Trapp won’t take part in our final training session – he’s at the Ballon d’Or award ceremony on Monday evening.”

…possible rotation: “The rotation merry-go-round is in constant motion. Sebastian Rode had a rest against Leverkusen, as did Mario Götze against Tottenham and Djibril Sow against Union. Every player will always get his chance, but we’ll play our strongest side tomorrow. We’re not going to test or try out anything.”

his job at Eintracht: “It’s a great environment and a great club with great togetherness. Whether you’re a player or staff member, everyone here always tries to do their best. We have a lot of fun together and you can sense how the club is valued and appreciated in the city.”
