“A lot can still happen”

Oliver Glasner praises upcoming opponents Schalke, examines his team’s prospects in the final few days of the season and issues a positive update on Aurélio Buta and Jesper Lindström.

Oliver Glasner on ...

…FC Schalke 04: “Schalke always make things incredibly difficult for their opponents. They’re not a team who go into games with caution but are always very aggressive and force their opponents into a lot of duels. They also had too many goalscoring opportunities in our first game – despite our 3-0 win – because they’re simply really difficult to defend against. I’m really looking forward to the atmosphere. There’s a lot at stake for both teams, so I expect a highly emotional and a very intense game. That’s how we’ll approach it.”

…personnel: “Jesper Lindström was ill but returned to training on Thursday. Philipp Max isn’t available yet for Schalke. Rafael Borré is back in the squad following suspension and Aurélio Buta was also able to return to training. Other than that, everyone who was available last time out is ready for action.”

The circumstances are ideal for two exciting final matchdays.

Head coach Oliver Glasner

…returning from his ban against Mainz: “It was very different. There’s a lot more tension, simply because you’re further away from the action. You’re a bit further away emotionally, too. Obviously you’ve got a better overview because of your vantage point, but I’m very pleased to be back and to be able to soak up the atmosphere better. I just feel a lot more comfortable on the touchline.”

…the Bundesliga’s final straight: “Almost all teams still have something to play for: the title, a relegation battle or the European places. The circumstances are ideal for two exciting final matchdays. A lot can still happen. Particularly in periods like this, our experienced players need to stand up and be counted. It’s hugely important that our experienced players are fit when it counts and can step up as leaders.”
