Intensive preparations

Pre-season is gearing up at the Deutsche Bank Park with two sessions on Tuesday.

The Eintracht first-team squad are doubling down when it comes to preparing for the new season, with a total of seven training sessions over the next four days. After Monday’s DFL Media Day, the team seemed relaxed and full of running when they got back to training on Tuesday, but one thing was clear – the battle for spots in the starting line-up has already begun in earnest.

A former SGE hero was paying particular attention to how training was being run, with Alex Meier – new assistant coach of the Under-17s – asking lots of questions, particularly of Adi Hütter. Coaching staff and players alike were delighted to see him back at the club.

Martin Spohrer was also a popular figure on Tuesday, with the fitness coach celebrating his 43rd birthday. There was little time for well wishes however as he put the players through their paces with coordination and agility exercises. The squad was then divided into two groups to work on various passing patterns, with shooting practice to finish things off.

With the Eagles not competing in Europe this season, they will have time to work on individual and tactical adjustments between matches as well as during pre-season. “I’m sure that having extra opportunities to train will help us when it comes to working in a more focused way on the tactical side of things,” Makoto Hasebe explained.
