“Hugely important for us”

Glasner, Rode and Trapp saw signs of progress in the team’s play in the win at Freiburg, praising the collective fighting spirit and looking ahead to the coming matches with confidence.

Head coach Oliver Glasner: “Well done to my team, who put in a very good away performance in a lot of areas. Particularly in the first half, we played some good football, attacked bravely and had a few attractive passages of play. This third win in a row is obviously hugely important for us, but the main thing is that we don’t now get carried away and we put the result into perspective. We go again on Thursday, and we’ll need another battling and technically good performance to achieve our big target and secure first place in the Europa League group.”

At the end of the day, you have to put in that effort to win games.

Sebastian Rode: “I’m feeling physically good after 20 minutes’ playing time. The win was very important. We produced a good, battling performance today and didn’t concede, which gives us fresh momentum to get more positive results in the coming matches.”

Kevin Trapp: “We don’t need to explain to anyone how important the win was. Augsburg won, Bielefeld got a point, so the win was very important. In the second half we defended very well as a team and cleared the ball off the line when we needed to. At the end of the day, you have to put in that effort to win games.”
