Gearing up for Friday

Eintracht have a shorter week than usual as they begin preparations for Friday’s trip to VfL Wolfsburg.

The Eagles play their 36th competitive game of 2020 at the end of this week – not that Sebastian Rode is complaining, though: “It’s a bit different when you play under the floodlights. I’m looking forward to it.”

With the final midweek fixture of the year coming up next week, Adi Hütter and his coaching staff are taking every opportunity they can to develop the side and prepare them for another difficult assignment at Wolfsburg.

Full concentration needed

With Eintracht president Peter Fischer watching on, Hütter’s charges completed some tactical drills out on the training pitch. Whether through simple passing exercises or using creative formations, Hütter tested his players’ concentration levels time and again throughout the 75-minute session.

And Rode was in no mood to ease off afterwards, either: “The league is very evenly balanced, and unfortunately we’re in mid-table at the moment. We’d like to climb closer to the teams above us. I’m not dwelling on the fact we’ve had a lot of draws. Once we’re out of this rut, I think we have good chances of being able to go on the charge.”
