Elias Baum signs pro contract

Eintracht Frankfurt have handed 18-year-old academy product Elias Baum a professional contract.

The Frankfurt native joined Eintracht in summer 2015 from FC 1957 Marxheim and progressed through all the academy age groups from U11 upwards. The full-back established himself in the U21s at the end of last season and has continued to be a key player for the Regionalliga side in the current campaign, even though he’s still eligible to play for the U19s.

He was also an ever-present for the U19 team in the UEFA Youth League last season, playing every minute of all seven matches.

Mixing with the pros for nearly a year

After playing his first minutes for the first team during the Japan tour at the end of 2022, Baum featured regularly in pre-season friendlies this summer. The Germany U19 international was also part of the matchday squad for the first team’s UEFA Europa Conference League matches against Aberdeen and PAOK.

Eintracht sporting director Timmo Hardung said: “Elias has developed brilliantly, particularly in recent months. He’s a key player for our U21s despite his young age, and has also caught the eye for the first team with good displays in training and friendlies. Along with his footballing talent, Elias is a great character and always willing to learn. We’re really looking forward to his next steps at Eintracht Frankfurt and the coming period with him.”
