Eintracht Frankfurt have secured the services of defensive midfielder Kristian Jakic, who joins the club from Croatian giants Dinamo Zagreb in a loan deal until 2022. The Eagles have the option to buy Jakic, who has been given the number six shirt.
Having spent the majority of his youth career with RNK Split, Jakic also enjoyed spells with NK Lokomotiva and NK Istra before joining Croatian record champions Dinamo, whom he helped to a 22nd top-flight title and victory in the domestic cup last season.
By signing him, we’ve gained a type of player that we didn’t previously have in our squad.

The 24-year-old made 46 appearances in all competitions in 2020/21, establishing himself as a pivotal cog in the Dinamo team through a combination of physical strength and footballing intelligence. The 1.81m holding midfielder was a key figure for Dinamo in the early stages of the current campaign, too, making five appearances in the league and seven in the UEFA Champions League qualifying stages. He registered two goals and one assist in that time.
Markus Krösche, Eintracht board member for sport, said: “Kristijan is a player who sets himself apart in defensive midfield with his vision and the necessary strength in the tackle. He has a good eye and has managed to improve steadily over the past few years. We want to continue this process in Frankfurt. By signing him, we’ve gained a type of player that we didn’t previously have in our squad.”
