Eintracht quartet moving on

In addition to the transfers of Aymen Barkok and Danny da Costa that had already been announced, Stefan Ilsanker and Sam Lammers are also leaving Eintracht ahead of next season.

Eintracht Frankfurt are saying goodbye to four of their current squad, with Aymen Barkok and Danny da Costa heading off to join 1. FSV Mainz 05 ahead of the new season, while Stefan Ilsanker and Sam Lammers will not have their contracts renewed.

Ilsanker joined the Eagles in January 2020 and went on to play 61 times in all competitions. He proved to be a real team player, and will be fondly remembered for his pair of goals in the 3-0 win in Bremen in June 2020 after coming on as a substitute, as well as his outstanding performance in the historic 2-1 win away to Bayern Munich last October.

Lammers joined SGE on loan from Atalanta BC last summer and made 22 appearances for the club. The Dutchman scored two goals during that time, one of them being the equaliser in the 1-1 draw in the opening group game of the UEFA Europa League against Fenerbahce SK – Eintracht’s first goal en route to the title.

Eintracht Frankfurt would like to take this opportunity to thank all four of these Europa League winners – with Barkok and da Costa also having won the DFB Cup with the Eagles in 2018 – for their service to the club and wish them every success in their future careers.
