Eintracht and Urawa enter into club partnership

Eintracht Frankfurt and Urawa Red Diamonds are pleased to announce a holistic partnership ahead of the Japan Tour, being held from 13 to 20 November.

Eintracht Frankfurt has long been aware of using the power and emotion of football to build bridges around the world. The latest step along this path is the signing of a partnership with Japanese club Urawa Red Diamonds. The cooperation between two top-flight clubs from Germany and Japan comes on the back of a shared history of players who have represented both sides, including such greats as Uwe Bein, Uwe Rahn, Naohiro Takahara and current Eagle Makoto Hasebe.

After an intensive and constructive exchange about the objectives of working together, the two clubs will mark the partnership with a friendly at the Saitama City Cup on 16 November at 19:30 JST (10:30 CET) as part of the Eintracht Frankfurt Japan Tour 2022. Along with a number of fan activities, the clubs will host a business networking event called the Nippon-Forum prior to the match to discuss the future of digital innovation, aimed at promoting the fusion of sport, business, education, culture and society to an audience of partners and top decision-makers.

The partnership offers benefits for both sides, as Urawa Red Diamonds will help Eintracht Frankfurt to develop its brand in the Japanese market, while Eintracht will leverage its position as the Bundesliga’s foremost club in terms of digitalisation and innovation to support Urawa in creating new digital business models.

Furthermore, the relationship between the clubs will contain various cooperation measures including the exchange of sporting expertise, youth development programmes and delegation visits, international club tours, and communications, sponsorship and corporate responsibility activities.

About Urawa Reds

Urawa Red Diamonds, founded in 1950, were one of the 10 founding members of the J League. Their most recent success came in 2018, when they again won the Emperor’s Cup. The Reds’ club philosophy focuses on improving society both locally and globally with the aim of contributing to the healthy development of young people as members of society, providing a place for healthy recreational activities for the local community, and being a window to the world for Saitama.
