Fresh from qualifying for the round of 16 in the UEFA Europa League, Oliver Glasner’s side face another challenging assignment as they host Bayer 04 Leverkusen on Sunday (kick-off 17:30 CET).
Leverkusen in form
Leverkusen are currently in third place ahead of their visit to Deutsche Bank Park. The Werkself recorded the biggest home win in the club’s history last weekend with a 7-1 thrashing of Greuther Fürth, with striker Patrik Schick also writing himself into the history books with four of the goals, becoming the first Bayer 04 player to ever net four times in a Bundesliga match.
However, Eintracht boss Glasner knows how he needs to set up his team: “We need to do it with team spirit against Leverkusen. We need to support each other, double up, be industrious and disciplined because Bayer have a lot of quality, particularly in attack,” said the 47-year-old in his pre-match press conference.
Eintracht confident
The Eagles are also not short of confidence going into Matchday 15 of the Bundesliga. “The big fluctuations in our performances are reducing,” said goalkeeper Kevin Trapp ahead of the eagerly anticipated clash.
“We’ve got ourselves to a level where we’re going along very well. That shows we’re bringing the quality that we have in the team onto the pitch. Things are becoming more automatic and more engrained in our heads. That makes it easier to play and on top of that we’re picking up good results, which generate confidence.”
