Eintracht suffer 2-1 loss to 1. FC Heidenheim

On Saturday, 18 July, Eintracht lost a test match against 1. FC Heidenheim in front of 7,500 spectators. After Castaignos had put the Eagles in front, Feick scored twice and brought victory to the second division club.

The friendly took place in Voith Arena, Heidenheim's home stadium, as part of Heidenheim’s season opening celebration. The 2nd division club will play its first regular season match next weekend against TSV 1860 München.

Even though a header by the hosts bounced against the bar early into the game, Eintracht were the better team in the first half. They created some decent goal-scoring chances and finally found the back of the net when new signing Castaignos, with the assistance of Russ, shot the ball behind the goalline (44'). However, Heidenheim were able to turn the match around in the second half due to two dead-ball goals by Feick (65', 70').

Eintracht Head Coach Veh, who substituted a lot of players in the second half, said after the match that he was happy with the performance of his team, adding that the Eagles had not yet practised set pieces.
