Goals from Patrick Ochs and Halil Altintop either side of a Frank Lampard equaliser gave the Bundesliga outfit a memorable victory in front of 40,000 cheering fans.
Fortunate opener
Eintracht coach Michael Skibbe used both his new Greek signings, Theofanis Gekas and Georgios Tzavellas, from the start, while Ioannis Amanatidis returned following a nine-month absence through injury.
Chelsea's galaxy of stars struggled to find their rhythm and were punished for an individual error early on as goalkeeper Hilario lost the ball to Ochs, allowing the midfielder in for the easiest of openers. Frankfurt had further chances to double their lead through Ochs (34'), Gekas (35', 56') and Amanatidis (45') all before the break.
Chelsea off the boil
The visitors, who will take on Hamburger SV in another friendly on Wednesday evening, rarely lived up to their world-class billing, and Eintracht goalkeeper Ralf Fährmann played his own small part in Lampard's equaliser on 64 minutes.
So it came as just reward when Halil Altintop stroked home the winner from the spot seven minutes before the end. The hosts appear to be in promising form with three weeks to go until the start of the new season, and Sunday's victory over the Blues, their seventh in as many pre-season friendlies, will no doubt fill them with the utmost confidence.
