Marius Wolf will remain at Eintracht beyond the end of the current season. The Eagles have exercised their option to sign the 22-year-old on a permanent basis from top-flight rivals Hannover 96, handing the Coburg-native a contract until 20 June 2020.
The right-footed winger, who joined SGE on loan from the Lower Saxony outfit half way through the 2016/17 campaign, has earned himself a regular place in Niko Kovac’s side with a string of influential displays. In his 21 appearances for the Eagles to date, he has scored four and assisted a further six goals.
Wolf suffered a serious shoulder injury in last season’s DFB Cup semi-final against Borussia Mönchengladbach, who Eintracht beat 2-0 on Friday. The wideman was forced to undergo surgery but managed to work his way back into the first-team fold after a lengthy spell on the sidelines, making a significant contribution to the Eagles’ recent surge up the table. “You’ve seen how Marius has developed and how important he has become for the team,” sporting director Bruno Hübner said of Frankfurt’s most recent acquisition. “We’re pleased that we’ve managed to tie him down on a permanent deal.”
