Eintracht Frankfurt sign Filip Kostić

Eintracht Frankfurt have signed Serbia international winger Filip Kostić on an initial loan deal from Hamburger SV.

Kostić has joined the Eagles on a two-year loan deal from relegated HSV, but Eintracht have also secured an option to purchase the 25-year-old.

Hübner: "Exactly the sort of player we need"

"In Filip Kostić we're getting exactly the sort of player we need for our style of play," said Eintracht sporting director Bruno Hübner. "Every football fan in Germany knows about Filip's abilities. We're convinced that he'll be a real asset very soon."

An old acquaintance of Fredi Bobic

Eintracht board member Fredi Bobic also knows Kostić well, having brought the winger to VfB Stuttgart from Dutch side FC Groningen in 2014.

"Filip Kostić is an experienced Bundesliga player, who has demonstrated what he's capable of time and again," said Bobic. "He brings exactly the qualities the coach needs for our style of play: he's good technically and really quick. He also went to the World Cup, and so adds some experience to the squad. With the signing of Filip, we've really increased our options."

Bundesliga experience

The left-footed forward has made 120 Bundesliga appearances for Hamburg and Stuttgart, scoring 17 goals and creating a further 18 in that time.

Kostić has also won 26 caps for Serbia, most recently participating in all three games of his nation's group-stage outing at the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia.
