Eintracht tie down Elias Bördner

Homegrown goalkeeper signs a professional contract valid until 30 June 2023.

Eintracht Frankfurt have handed Elias Bördner his first professional contract, which will keep him at the club until 2023. The U19 goalkeeper, who celebrates his 19th birthday today, is now officially part of the first-team squad. The 1.88 metre-tall shot-stopper has already been a regular in training during the current season, and was included in the matchday squad for the recent wins against Hertha BSC and 1. FC Köln.

Bördner joined the Eagles in 2017 from TSG Wieseck, a feeder club of the Eintracht Frankfurt academy. Since then he’s kept eight clean sheets in 17 matches for the U17 side, as well as making seven appearances for the U19s.

He’s already been an established member of our goalkeeping team this season and has made great progress under Jan Zimmermann.

Sportdirektor Bruno Hübner

“The first place we look when giving pro contracts to talented youngsters is always our own academy,” said sporting director Bruno Hübner. “We’re therefore pleased that we’ve been able to incorporate Elias here. He’s already been an established member of our goalkeeping team this season and has made great progress under [goalkeeping coach] Jan Zimmermann. We’re convinced that he can make the next step up in the coming years and we’re also pleased that he sees Frankfurt as the best place to do that.”
