“We have to stay positive”

Eintracht gave everything, did a lot of things right and yet still didn’t win. The players and staff were deeply disappointed after the final whistle, and admitted they made mistakes in the build-up to the late

Head coach Adi Hütter: “We only have ourselves to blame for the goal that made it 3-2 because we lost the ball before the penalty. The incident that led to the sending-off also annoyed me, because before [Breel] Embolo went to ground after a slight touch from [David] Abraham, we could have prevented the move earlier. I’m convinced that with David on the pitch, we would have won. The overall team performance gives me optimism that we’ll soon win again, although after nine games without a win, it’s obviously time we were rewarded.”

I’m very disappointed that we’ve not won.

Sporting director Bruno Hübner: “We put in a really good performance. If David doesn’t get the red card, then we win the match. We should’ve held onto the lead. For the final goal, we have to defend better. Aymen [Barkok] had a great game but then unfortunately he misses the ball and it’s a penalty. But there’s no blame on him. Now we need to rally because we need a result at Augsburg.”

Makoto Hasebe: “I’m very disappointed that we’ve not won. We didn’t get into the game in the first 10 minutes but then scored three goals. Overall we played very well. It’s difficult to say what it came down to in the end. Going down to 10 men was a blow, it was a very harsh decision. We need to play smarter with a man down. We have to stay positive and get three points on Saturday.”
