“Jens Petter totally rocked it”

Djibril Sow spoke to us about the first few days in Windischgarsten, his ambitions for the new season and Hauge’s singing talents…

Djibril Sow on...

...the first training sessions at camp: “After going rafting to start off with, we actually got down to business today and now we’re trying to get some shape into the team, since there are so many newcomers. We’re going to make the best use we can of the week.”

...his personal development: “Winning the Europa League came as something of a surprise and was beyond my expectations. My aim was to gradually grow into my role – which is exactly the case of every other player in every other team. That’s the way I expected it to pan out. We’ve all got lofty ambitions and want to keep on driving Eintracht Frankfurt forward.”

..getting the newcomers on board: “I’ve only been here a week but as has always been the case, the new players have already been given a warm welcome. On Saturday evening the new players all had to sing as part of a team-building exercise. Jens Petter Hauge really surprised me. He had to go again after making his debut last year and had to sing in German this time. He totally rocked it!”

...his new team-mate Mario Götze: “You can see how experienced he is. He always remains calm under pressure and that’s something that’s going to help us a lot, particularly in the attacking third where last season we tended to rush things. He’ll be able to help us take the next step.”

We need to find the right balance between staying relaxed and maintaining our focus.

Djibril Sow

...the coming season: “Everyone’s up for it. They’re all putting in a shift and everyone’s looking to establish themselves in the starting XI. Everyone fits into the team well in terms of personality. We’re aware of the fact that we’ve got a very demanding season ahead of us with opponents who are looking to knock the Europa League winners off their perch. We need to find the right balance between staying relaxed and maintaining our focus.”

...the Champions League: “My main aim was always to play Champions League football with Eintracht, and here we are. Everyone can imagine what it’s going to be like in the stadium. Regardless of who we are playing, there’s going to be a party atmosphere. We’re not there just to make up the numbers and enjoy the competition – we want to make our mark on the tournament, and with our fans behind us we’re capable of going a long way.”
