The end of a chapter

On 16 May 2018, Eintracht Frankfurt announced the signing of Adi Hütter as the new first-team head coach. As our time together comes to an end, we look back on three eventful years.

First game

A 5-0 defeat to Bayern Munich in the DFL Supercup on 12 August 2018.

First win

Nicolai Müller (10’) and Sébastien Haller (82’) got the goals in a 2-0 victory away to Freiburg on Matchday 1 of the 2018/19 season.

Biggest win

Luka Jovic wrote his name into the record books with five goals in a 7-1 thrashing of Fortuna Düsseldorf on 19 October 2018.

Best placing in all competitions

The Eagles reached the DFB Cup semi-finals in 2019/20 but lost 2-1 to eventual winners Bayern Munich on 10 June 2020. Eintracht finished in fifth place in 2020/21, having ended up in seventh and ninth in Hütter’s first two seasons.
Under the Austrian tactician, Eintracht progressed to the semi-finals of the Europa League in their first European campaign since the 2013/14 season. The team ultimately lost to eventual champions Chelsea on penalties on 9 May 2019.

Overall record

Including those goals in the shootout, Eintracht scored 265 times and conceded 218 in 141 competitive matches in three years under Hütter. The coach oversaw 67 victories, 31 draws and 43 defeats, giving him a points-per-game average of 1.65.

TSG Hoffenheim: six games, six wins.

Players used

Over the course of his tenure, Hütter fielded 46 different players. Filip Kostic featured the most, appearing in 127 matches for a total of 11,100 minutes.
