Eagles in America: Fun birthday for da Costa

Right-back Danny da Costa had a birthday to remember in Philadelphia. He reports from a busy seventh day of Eintracht’s US training camp.

Hello Eagles fans!

Friday was a fantastic day! We had a packed but fun programme, with plenty going on off the pitch, so it was a good way to celebrate my 25th birthday. Sightseeing, free time, training – it was all there.

Meeting Rocky and Swoop

After breakfast we did a bit of sightseeing for the first time during this trip. We took the bus to the ‘Rocky Steps’ – the famous steps that Rocky Balboa went up in the film of the same name. To run up the Rocky Steps and to enjoy the views from the front of the Museum of Arts was just amazing. It's something you have to do! After lunch, a few of us went to the stadium for an autograph session with some fans. We were also joined by Swoop, the Philadelphia Eagles mascot, which was good fun!

Then we got back down to business, training at the impressive Talen Energy Stadium for the first time. As it was the only session of the day, head coach Adi Hütter really went for it. After an intense warm-up, we did some possession-based drills where we practised pressing, followed by some work on our build-up play. It was hard work. Sadly Jan ‘Zimbo’ Zimmermann didn’t take part and won’t be able to play in the friendly tomorrow. That’s been the only downside of a really cool birthday.

Yours,
Danny
