Hello, Eagles fans!
The training camp didn’t start particularly well for me personally, as I wasn’t able to train properly. I picked up a knock in the friendly against Offenburg, which was still hurting a bit when we arrived. I was given the green light today, though, and managed to take full part in training. It’s nice to be able to play properly again.
New coach, new style
You could tell after just a couple of training sessions that our new head coach Adi Hütter has his own way of doing things. The sessions are shorter and include a variety of tactical and technical drills. We’ve been working on defending high up the pitch, pressing and counter-pressing. Almost every drill involved a ball - apart from the interval runs at the end of the morning session. I think that’s really great.
Impressive stadium
I went for a rub-down in the afternoon, which always works wonders after so many sessions in such a short space of time. We had a bit more time to kill today as our second session only took place in the evening - at the stadium. Late in the afternoon we left our training base for the Rio Tinto Stadium, where we play Real Salt Lake on Tuesday evening.
I’ve come across many charming little stadiums back in the Netherlands, but the Rio Tinto really is amazing. It holds just under 20,000 people, the fans are close to the touchline and you can see the Rockies in the background. If you aren’t busy on Tuesday evening, make sure you come along or follow the action live on EintrachtTV! You don’t want to miss it. I’m definitely looking forward to playing in front of fans again against Real Salt Lake.
Yours,
Jetro
