Duo celebrate new arrivals as Eagles return to training

Head coach Adi Hütter had a near full-strength squad at his disposal for Eintracht’s first training session since their return from Switzerland.

Speed was of the essence during the rondos.
Twenty-seven players took to the Commerzbank Arena training ground on Tuesday, with 24 outfield players joining goalkeepers Frederik Rönnow and Felix Wiedwald for the warm-up before breaking off into smaller groups. Gelson Fernandes, who is still recovering from a minor injury, trained away from the rest of the squad, while home-grown midfielder Nils Stendera continued his recovery to full fitness with some light jogging.

Only five players were missing from the session: Simon Falette is on holiday following his involvement in the Africa Cup of Nations, Patrick Finger is with the Under-19s at their training camp and Sébastien Haller is on his way to London to complete a move to West Ham United. New signing Erik Durm is with his family after recently becoming a father, while Jan Zimmermann and his wife are also expecting a baby.

The Eagles will continue preparations for their upcoming UEFA Europa League qualifier with a double training session on Wednesday (at 10:30 CEST and 16:30 CEST).
