Düsseldorf preview: Journey into the unknown

Fortuna Düsseldorf have changed coaches from the one with the most experience in the Bundesliga to the one with the least, complicating Frankfurt’s preparations for their forthcoming clash.

Eintracht have got 2020 off to a strong start, defeating TSG Hoffenheim 2-1 away in their opening match of the second half of the season before a hard-fought 2-0 win against Leipzig. Their next opponents have had a less successful start to the calendar year and find themselves bottom of the table after two defeats.

New coach at Fortuna

Uwe Rösler is the new man in the Fortuna dugout and in terms of his experience as a coach in Germany, he is the exact opposite to the man who was relieved of his duties on Wednesday morning, Friedhelm Funkel. And while Adi Hütter is getting ready for his 84th match as Eintracht head coach, Rösler has zero management experience in the Bundesliga.

A chance to level the score

The overall record between Fortuna and the Eagles could hardly be tighter. The two teams have met 28 times, with Frankfurt recording nine wins, nine draws and ten defeats. A victory this time around would balance out the statistics perfectly.
