Three wins, two substitute appearances

Our international Eagles enjoyed wins with Germany, Austria and Switzerland, even though they only featured towards the end.

Cameo for Younes

Germany won their second World Cup qualifier in Bucharest on Sunday, recording a narrow 1-0 victory over Romania. Amin Younes came on in injury time, while Kevin Trapp was left out of the matchday squad.

Austria defeat Faroes

Austria took on the Faroes Islands in Vienna in their second World Cup qualifier. Stefan Ilsanker was an unused substitute in Sunday’s 3-1 win, while Martin Hinteregger was again ruled out due to injury.

Zuber helps Switzerland to victory

Switzerland – with Steven Zuber and Djibril Sow in their ranks – were also in action on Sunday evening, their second World Cup qualifier coming against Lithuania. Neither Zuber nor Sow were named in the starting line-up, but the former was brought on in the 80th minute and helped his team hold out for a 1-0 win.
