“Important to maintain hunger”

Head coach Oliver Glasner on keeping his players mentally fresh, personnel and Saturday’s “open contest” against Gladbach.

Oliver Glasner on …

…the visit to Gladbach: “We travel to Mönchengladbach with a positive feeling. The team are in good shape – we had an impressive win against Leverkusen recently and have fond memories of Borussia-Park from last season. If we win 3-2 again, we’ll go home happy.”

…Eintracht’s opponents: “Gladbach are very strong on the ball and in attack. In Julian Weigl, they’ve acquired an experienced player in midfield and in Daniel Farke, they also have a very good coach. Despite the 2-1 defeat in Darmstadt [in the DFB Cup], Gladbach are a team with great technical ability and power, but they’ve also conceded one or two goals. I’m expecting a pretty even game in which both teams will attack.”

We’re in a period where less is sometimes more.

…personnel: “Personnel-wise, everyone’s fit apart from Aurélio Buta, Makoto Hasebe and Ansgar Knauff. That’s why we’re heading to Gladbach with a positive feeling. I’m expecting an open game in which both teams will attack.”

…mental freshness: “On Thursday, I gave the team some time off so they could switch off. We’re in a period where less is sometimes more. I also spoke less and reduced the video analysis of our opponents. Physically, the lads are all highly professional, hungry and obsessed with success. It’s important to maintain that hunger to win, because that’s what counts now.”

…Jesper Lindström’s development: “Jesper has come on leaps and bounds and continued his development from last season. He can definitely improve – when it comes to tackling at the highest level in Europe, for instance – but he’s absolutely on the right track.”
