GERMAN DFB CUP - SGE FACE VFL BOCHUM IN ROUND 2
After having won a rather uneventful DFB Cup match against 4th division team FV Illertissen (2-0), Eintracht will have to face 2nd division team VfL Bochum in the 2nd round of the German cup competiton. The match will take place in Frankfurt on either 24 or 25 September 2013.
VfL Bochum were Eintracht's opponents in the 1988 final of the DFB Cup which was won 1-0 by the Eagles (goal by Lajos Detari). It was the last time SGE lifted a trophy.
KARL-HEINZ KÖRBEL RECEIVES AWARD
As part of the 50-year-anniversary celebration of the German Bundesliga, Eintracht legend Karl-Heinz “Charly” Körbel was awarded the so-called “Ehrenpreis der Bundesliga” in Berlin on Tuesday, 6 August 2013. This league award was given to him for having played 602 Bundesliga matches, an all-time record. Needless to say that in all these matches, "Faithful Charly" wore the jersey of one club only: Eintracht Frankfurt. Congrats, Charly!
SEASON OPENING CELEBRATION
On Wednesday, 31 July 2013, Eintracht Frankfurt and more than 12,000 supporters celebrated the coming season. The event took place in and around Frankfurt’s home stadium, the Commerzbank-Arena, and was accompanied by an entertaining social programme. Of course, Eintracht coach Armin Veh and his players were present to give autographs and chat with the fans.

TEST MATCH WIN AGAINST THE NATIONAL TEAM OF LUXEMBOURG
In their last test match for the 2013/14 season, the Eagles defeated the national team of Luxembourg 4-1 (1-1). The game took place in front of 1,800 spectators (among them about 500 Eintracht supporters) in the city of Differdange on 27 July 2013. Eintracht’s goals were scored by Meier (10'), Flum (57'), Lanig (76') und Lakic (82').
