“Pleased with my performance”

Diant Ramaj reflects on his surprise appearance at Freiburg and delights in the feedback from his coach and teammates.

Diant, how do you look back on the game at Freiburg?
“Very positively. I’m pleased with my performance and the team’s performance was also good. Unfortunately we only came away with a point, but Freiburg’s a tough place to go.”

What feedback have you been given by the coach and your teammates?
“Very good feedback. They found my performance very solid and positive, and that’s what you need at the back: solid cover. I handled that quite well.”

The news that I was going to play came as a surprise, but I took it very positively and tried to play my game.

It’s not always easy being number two. You normally find out fairly late that you’re playing. You hadn’t had many games before that, plus you had a long injury lay-off last year. How did you get into the swing of thing?
“Because the match was fairly soon after the winter break, when we had a few games, it wasn’t that difficult for me to play my way in quickly. The news that I was going to play came as a surprise, but I took it very positively and tried to play my game.”

On Saturday it’s the match away to Bayern Munich, which could be the biggest match of your career so far. How are you dealing with that?
“If I play on Saturday then it would be the biggest match of my career so far. I’ll try to do my thing and do my best.”

So excitement rather than nerves?
“Yes, absolutely!”
