Eintracht are preparing for the second half of the Bundesliga season in Alicante until Sunday. We will keep you updated every day with how the Eagles are getting on, providing the latest news from the Coca-Cola-sponsored training camp.
Satisfying result: On Saturday, Eintracht took on second-division Erzgebirge Aue in a friendly consisting of three 45-minute periods. The Eagles put in a solid display, securing a deserved 3-1 victory thanks to goals from Sebastien Haller, Branimir Hrgota and Mijat Gacinovic. “It always feels good when you win games,” said Hrgota, who was excellent throughout. “As a striker, if you then manage to add a goal it’s obviously very nice.”
Memorable comebacks: Head coach Kovac will also have enjoyed seeing Omar Mascarell and Marco Fabian return to action against Aue after several months out through injury. “I feel great and am happy to be back on the pitch with the lads,” Mascarell said afterwards. “It makes me hungry for more. I now need to get back into a regular routine. I’m working towards that every day.”
Special occasion: It was also a memorable day for Dr Wulf Schwietzer, who turned 43 on Saturday. At dinner, the players didn’t pass up the opportunity to sing the Eintracht club doctor a rendition of Happy Birthday. Many happy returns, Wulf!
