“It won’t knock us down”

Markus Krösche, Oliver Glasner and Sam Lammers analyse Eintracht’s performance in the 1-1 draw with VfB Stuttgart.

Board member for sport Markus Krösche: “We played well and did a lot right. You could tell that certain things are still missing. We tried to play through the middle in the first half in particular, when it would have made more sense to play via the wings. It’s good that we’re creating goalscoring opportunities, but it’s frustrating that we couldn’t hold on in a game like that. We have to defend better in that situation – it was a bit too easy. That said, I saw a lot of things that are moving in the right direction. We have to work on these little things. The guys are giving their all, which is vital.”

We deserved the victory, we put a lot into it, but we’re fighters and it won’t knock us down.

Head coach Oliver Glasner

Head coach Oliver Glasner: “We’re obviously disappointed. We deserved the victory, we put a lot into it, but we’re fighters and it won’t knock us down. We knew it’d be difficult; VfB have pacey players. We did a great job for the most part, and after conceding the equaliser we had a great chance to make it 2-1. We weren’t focused enough for a few minutes, and that’s when they made it 1-1.”

Sam Lammers: “We played well and put our opponents under pressure early on. We controlled the game, played dominant football and created a lot of opportunities. We can build on that. It’s disappointing that we weren’t able to score enough goals in the end – myself included. I’ve been in Frankfurt for a week, and I obviously still need to get to know my teammates better. We made the wrong decision too often in promising situations. I had two or three chances to score, but I’ll do better next time.”
